Just a quick reminder – Anyone who comes in to the Quiltbug shop and wishes us a Happy Mothers Day or puts “Happy Mothers Day” into the special comments on the order form will get a free fat quarter! If you are in the shop, you can pick one out – if you order online, just let us know in the comments what type of fabric you like. We’ll try to send you something you consider a gift. This event ends May 8, 2011. Be sure to check out our new fabrics – Quilts of Valor, Savanna Scramble and Jingle all the Way.
The pattern below is available as a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Click here to order.
We just sent off our 4th box of completed quilts! So far we have shipped 53 quilts. We have probably that same number in tops, most of which will be sent to the volunteer long armers. I have to say, the response to this event has been overwhelming! Quite a number of people have generously sent everything from cash (to offset our shipping fees) to fabric, tops and completed quilts. Quilts for Japan Sew-In!
Quilters are providing warmth, support and hope to the people of Japan.
Esperance NY (April 4, 2011) The recent devastating earthquake and Tsunami in Japan has affected millions of people. In an effort to provide warmth and comfort to the survivors of Japan’s catastrophic events, quilters are being called upon to make and donate quilts which will be distributed to the affected areas.
Naomi Ichikawa, Editor of Patchwork Quilt in Tokyo Japan, recently reached out to Quilters to ask for their help and support to provide comfort quilts for families and children who have lost everything.
The Quiltbug Shop has responded by organizing a Sew-in at the United Methodist Church, 175 Main St, Esperance starting at noon on Sunday, April 10. Quilters can bring their own donations, or a kit will be provided. Helpers who do not have a sewing machine will be need to iron, sort and pack.
Lunch has been generously donated by neighbors Western Turnpike Deli and Hannafords, both located less than two miles from the shop. In addition, the church will be sponsoring a bake sale from 12 – 3 that day to help raise funds needed for shipping.
Donations of quilt supplies and items to use as door prizes are requested. These can be brought to the shop anytime before the event. Remember the Japanese proverb – ‘a friend who comes on a rainy day is your true friend’.
Located just over the Schoharie Creek bridge on Main St in Esperance, this quilt shop is packed with fabric, books, batting, patterns, notions, sewing supplies and other goodies beloved by quilters and crafters. If you’ve got the quiltbug, they’ve got the cure!
For more information, please contact Kris Driessen at 1-888-817-6577 or by E-mail at KrisDriessen@yahoo.com
The Quiltbug shop is going to be having a Sew-In at the UMC Church next door to the shop starting at 11AM on April 10 to make quilts for Japan. The church is going to do a bake sale to help raise funds for shipping, and the Western Turnpike Deli is going to provide food for the workers. As is Hannaford. Quilters Dream Batting will be sending us some batting and Kona Bay will be sending us some fabric to use as backing. Quilting Services have been donated by At Home Quilting and two other individuals.
I’ve asked a couple of people for door prizes and everyone has said yes so far. I am going to keep working on that. I am kinda excited.
* Waters Garage – oil change
